Natural Alternative Pet Care

In my life I try to use as many natural alternatives as possible. Whether it be for myself, my kids or my animals. A lot of products that we use have lots of chemicals in them. Some of which have severe side effects that can even lead to death. Thats not to say you can't have a reaction from a natural product, after giving any new product to our animals they should be monitored, and all products should be used as directed. No product is a replacement for vet care. If your pet has any ongoing worrying symptoms that do not start improving after a few days meet with your vet, if you dog has any symptoms of a serious nature, like signs of an infection, fever, vomiting or diarrhea that last more than a couple days without improvement see your vet as it could be sign of a very serious illness. If your dog can't eat or keep down fluids or is having lethargy...you guessed it.... VET!! I am not a vet! These are products that I personally like. If you dog is on any prescription medication consult with your vet before administering any natural supplement as some ingredients should not mix. Do your research, then make an educated decision and follow your gut to make the right choice for you and your dog.

Here is my working master list:

  • Colloidal Silver: natural antibiotic. Can be used topical and ingested. Good for people too. Colds, cuts, sores, hotspots ear infections. Etc. this is honestly my #1 product. If I could tell you 1 product to keep on hand always it’s this one. It’s my “cure all”.

  • Earth Animal No More Worms Parasite Protection: less harsh than typical wormers, better taste, not sticky and can be mixed with their water.  If diarrhea or runny poops come on suddenly and last more than a couple days you should consult with a vet as it can be a sign of a million other issues. Including scary life-threatening ones, or allergies m/sensitivities to foods.

  • Snooks Herbal Salve: good for humans too. Dry/cracking paws & noses. Cuts & sores, yeasty toes. Safe if ingested (licked off) I used these for the docking wound. Because mamas tend to lick the ointments and these ones are safe unlink lost others if she licked it off.

  • Pumpkin purée: digestion, nervous belly, solidifies poop. Nobody wants to clean up runny poop mess. Your dog's poop should ideally be solid.

  • Ultra Oil Fish Oil:  I like this one because it’s not sticky. Some others I have used are super sticky. I don’t use this always because I do think fish oil smells and makes their gas extra stinky. I only use it on occasion if I see signs that they could use a boost for their fur, skin or nails. But also, if they are chronically having these issues then it may be a food change needed.

  • Unscented Honest baby wipes for wiping out ears: no chemicals which can make their ears irritated or stinky.

  • Animal Essentials Tinkle Tonic: urinary tract health. I would use this for milder uti’s or symptoms of them. But again, I would advise never letting symptoms go unchecked for too long. If your dog has a tendency to get utis this is a good preventative.

  • Animal Essentials Tranquility Blend: used for acute stress (fireworks, car rides etc.) but doesn’t make them sleepy. If their fear is severe, I would still have a prescription on hand for fireworks and such, so that is this product doesn't work well enough for your pet you still have the backup on hand (don't wait until Fourth of July to get what you need)

  • Austin & Kat Baileys No More wiggles: CBD calming.

  • Austin & Kat Baileys Immunity formula: CBD with immune support. I would use this if I was traveling with the dogs, or for big stressful changes/events like moving, getting a new pet etc. since stress can lower the immune system.

  • Honest Baby shampoo for puppies: Gentle enough for their skin and natural.

  • Project Sudz moisturizing shampoo bar: bonus points cutting back on plastic waste. I would store it in a small Tupperware container and hide under the sink since ya know, bar soaps get hairy.

  • Diggin your dog firm up pumpkin cranberry urinary tract supplement: digestion & firming up poop. Urinary health.

  • Kin + Kind ear cleaner: when your dog's ears are a little yeasty and wipes won’t cut it.  If ears are ever bleeding, smelly discharge, or you can’t seem to clear it up fairly quickly with over-the-counter products vet care is needed. Rottie's in particular can have a tendency towards yeasty ears. And it's pretty easy to tell by the smell of them. They almost have a sickeningly sweet smell of yeast is present.

  • Enzyme Cleaners: the only right way to clean pee/poo accidents. 1. Biozyme enzyme cleaner made in Oregon (favorite) 2. Biokleen easier to find works great still 3. Angry Orange least favorite of the 3 but still good and smells amazing. If you don’t use enzyme cleaners the protons on the irons especially will not break down. The dog will still be able to smell it and will continue to go in that spot. Also great for kid messes and stains!

  • NHV Natural Pet: heartworm care, Inulin, milk thistle & Heart Healthy, but they have tons of other products for other health concerns. I haven’t tried most of them, but I think they’d be worth a shot.

  • Wondercide flea and tick: spray for dogs, collar and yard treatment. To prevent. Shampoo to treat.  Skin tonic for hotspots & allergies I like that it’s safe for people to handle as well. And that it smells good.  Multiple scents. They also have people bug repellent which I have used, and I like it because it smells good, it’s not greasy like some natural ones I’ve tried that seem to be pure oils and it doesn’t burn like the chemical ones.

Most of these I get from “All Natural Pet Supply” you can order from their website. Some of them you can also get from Amazon.

As I go along on my journey of dog ownership and breeding, I will add to this list and share the products I like. Maybe then I can help others take advantage of this hyper focused, over researching adhd brain to help you save money on less than stellar products and help you all to have healthy happy pets!

Tune in next time to whatever topic chooses to pop in my head at random to be shared with all of you people.
